Use Baader Machine Grease #4 Ultra-Range from Alpine Astronomical to treat telescope mounts or other parts. This grease is rated for temperatures ranging from -58 to 140F and will keep your telescope parts in good condition for a long time. It is especially suitable for use in the mirror sliding fittings of SC telescopes, as the grease does not produce any outgassing, does not react to vapor-pressure, and does not harden or decompose into solids and liquids.
